Khultan ::: Favorites 2006-11-14 22:12:47 ....cocaine is a hell of a drug. Ha! ha! ha! ha! __________________________________________________
Khultan ::: Favorites 2006-11-12 21:09:49 It doesn't have to take after William Shakespeare at all. Human civilization existed long before he ever picked up an exotic feathered pen to paper, meaning, the portrayal of conveying the drama ofhuman emotions has been in existence. Everything and everyone influences me. Everything and everyone is open for criticism, musing, and pondering. __________________________________________________
Khultan ::: Favorites 2006-11-12 20:58:32 The conceit is that it's a fairy tale. Bullshit. Even that's been watered down from it's true,original, european dark roots that teach harsh, cruel, lessons. J.R.R. Tolkein famously discussed this very topic. George says he's modernizing a fairy tale. Bullshit. If modernizing is to also imply 'make shallow' then to hell with it!! Leone NEVER spoke a lick of English is NOT from America and yet you can FEEL those characters in his paean to mythologized fantasy of the West Italian style. __________________________________________________
Khultan ::: Favorites 2006-11-12 20:43:19 It would be interesting if actors and actresses who are trying to grow and master the thespian arts to see how they would approach instances such as this to lend a believable portrayal away from the sets. I know, it seems a thin line between improvising and imposing.... __________________________________________________
Khultan ::: Favorites 2006-11-12 18:21:44 The most famous example is of British actor Anthony Daniels portrayal of protocol android C-3po contrasted with George's earlier (and dead set) idea of a kind of 'Bronx used car salesman' type, I mean try to picture that. THAT was George's original idea. Anthony's (good) subjectivity is a blessing and it makes damn sense for this droid to behave this way.... __________________________________________________
Khultan ::: Favorites 2006-11-12 17:41:25 Yes. __________________________________________________
Peteman81 ::: Favorites 2006-11-12 14:48:57 Do you like the film? __________________________________________________
Khultan ::: Favorites 2006-11-12 13:13:14 Actually, it tremendously impacts that scene. __________________________________________________
Khultan ::: Favorites 2006-11-12 12:48:47 Yes, they wrote the story intending for the characters to get together--but it's almost suddenly rude in it's absent mindedness to dismiss what should rightfully and would've given it a naturalness to a romantic tension that is damn near nonexistent. __________________________________________________
Khultan ::: Favorites 2006-11-12 12:39:45 ....but not for the better. The stories and dialogues are being written by people, albeit , very, very poor in the ways of directing actors/actresses in conveying emotions. There's no mandate directing the director or writers, they ARE the ones who make the mandates but they're extremely weak in lending emotions and humanity in the characters. __________________________________________________
Khultan ::: Favorites 2006-11-12 12:26:20 **I'm back.** This mistake is again repeated when both agree in an attempt to rescue Obi-wan, just before they disembark from the royal ship, Natalie has just finished announcing her diplomatic intentions face to face, romantic tensions of the unrequited kind would've been really effective here by maintaining eyes to eyes contact, BUT INSTEAD Hayden is left all by himself to utter the last lines afterwards without her there. This tremendously impacts the story. __________________________________________________
Peteman81 ::: Favorites 2006-11-12 11:21:07 Fair enough about the acting - it did look, and feel, sorrta contrived. More like as the story said they had to get together, they did - not because the characters wanted to get together. __________________________________________________ |
